Field Management Zone Delineation Tool for Variable Rate Application

This Tool is Powered with Satellite Imagery and Yield Maps of your Field

What This Tool Does

This tool helps you create management zones for precision agriculture applications by analyzing multiple years of yield data combined with satellite-derived vegetation indices.

Key Features

  • Multi-Year Yield Analysis: Requires at least 3 years of yield data to identify stable patterns across growing seasons
  • Satellite Imagery Integration: Uses NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and NDRE (Normalized Difference Red Edge) to assess crop health and vigor
  • Customizable Parameters: Control image selection, date ranges, cloud cover tolerance, and filtering thresholds
  • Cluster-Based Zoning: Creates management zones using advanced clustering algorithms to group similar areas

Expected Outputs

After completing the analysis, you will receive:

  • Detailed management zone maps showing areas with similar characteristics
  • Statistical summaries of yield patterns and vegetation indices for each zone
  • Recommendations for variable rate application strategies
  • Visual comparisons across years and zones
  • Exportable reports in PDF or HTML format for sharing with agronomists and stakeholders

Data Requirements

  • Yield Data: Georeferenced yield monitor data in shapefile or CSV format with coordinates
  • Field Boundaries: Polygon shapefile defining your field edges
  • Minimum Years: At least 3 years of yield data for reliable zone delineation
  • Date Information: Growing season dates for each year to properly query satellite imagery

Analysis Workflow
Follow these steps to run your precision agriculture analysis:
  1. Upload Yield Data - Provide yield data from at least 3 years
  2. Upload Field Edges - Define your field boundaries
  3. Delineate Field Edges (Optional) - Refine field boundary definitions
  4. Select Parameters - Choose date range, years, number of images, and cloud cover threshold for NDVI and NDRE calculation
  5. Filter by Vegetation Indices (Optional) - Apply filters based on vegetation index values and variability
  6. Select Number of Clusters - Define management zones by specifying the number of clusters
  7. Download Report - Generate and download your analysis report in PDF or HTML format
